The more essential oil you use, the longer lasting the scent will be. You can, in fact, make perfumes that are 100% essential oil. This is more expensive (depending on the type of oil you use) and will not last in the bottle as long as perfumes with the oil dissolved in alcohol (oil without preservatives will eventually go rancid) but it is possible. (The oil perfume lasts a long time on the skin.)

A suggestion would be to mix a perfume using essential oils and then blend the finished result 2 to 1 with jojoba oil, which is an excellent preservative. (Technically, jojoba oil is a liquid wax, so it does not go rancid the way oil does.)

Essential oil can be purchased at many online retailers. Be sure to get oil that is intended for perfume making, not "potporri" oil or oil that is intended for use in soap or candle making.
