What are some pros and cons of installing solar panels?

    These are just some. I'm sure there are more on both sides.

    Pros: lower electricity bills, less pollution, self-sufficiency

    Cons: large initial capital expenditure, solar panels need replacement on a certain schedule -- which often cancels out the advances made on lower electricity bills, a certain amount of pollution required to make the panels and dispose of them, only work well in direct sunlight -- haze/fog/rain/weather hinders the electricity production

    • Most solar panels are quarenteed to still produce at least 90% of their rated output after 20 years.
