I have 4 holes in each ear and they have a tendency to get infected. I plan on getting my belly button pierced this weekend, will it have a tendency to get infected too?

If the piercings in your ears are frequently infected, more likely than not your navel piercing will also get infected easily.

Two things could be happening here:

    1) You could have an allergy to the metal used in many earrings. Brass and nickel jewelry can cause allergic reactions. Look for surgical-grade steel, titanium, 18-karat gold, or a metal called niobium.

    2) The other reason for infection could be a simple lack of cleanliness. Earrings should be dipped in rubbing alcohol before they are inserted. You should only handle your piercings with freshly washed hands. Also, with a navel piercing, you will need to wash the site with warm water and a cleanser once or twice a day while the site is healing.
