Why do people in general say the biggest problem with homeschooling is the "socialization" issue?

    That is because it is a valid claim. Like they say, people need people.
    As children grow, they need to interact with other youths to develop in a healthy way. We need to socialize on different levels, and we have to allow kids to have their childhood, which includes playing with children their own age, their peers.
    That is a part of their “social education”.
    I would not let the lack of childhood interaction stop you from homeschooling (especially if the school you are keeping your child out of is very violent or the school is known to have a serious drug problem). I would though explore various avenues of finding alternative, positive association for your child before selecting homeschooling.
