? for gay men. How many times do you see a face from the past and think "OMG you're still alive!"? We often think when we haven't seen someone for years that they are dead...and our community was so devatstated by AIDS. Often we just assume they died.

Errr. No? lmao it's so silly IMO to think that!!! Never had that happening. And I don't see how people you just don't see are dead... it's just a bad reference in my opinion. They might've moved, went on a long trip, stopped going out, etc etc...

Honestly not a thing I would ever think nor have I ever thought before. AIDS is impacting our community but... ?

It would be the same thing than to think that, between cab drivers, because there are many accidents and mortal crashes on the road, and you don't see a colleague for a long time, you think he died...

Or because you didn't see a guy friend you knew back when you were 15, that he must've killed himself because suicide rates are high for teen males.

... I never assume ppl died ; I just think our paths haven't crossed since!

    • We used to record the deaths of our friends(these were not just aquaintances) on our calendar..not to be morbid but to remember them each year..after a few years when we got to about 75 deaths..I said to my partner 'I just can't do this anymore'..In our community everyday you would get a phone call that someone else had died (this was in the 1980's and 90's when even prolonging life of AIDS patients was impossible). When I asked my father-in-law how many people he knew who had died in WWII he said 1 but I didn't know him very well....+6 for answering

    • well i guess it's the younger view of the community :) i was born in the 80's so i haven't lived that situation that much and maybe that's why it's silly to me :)
