Is staring at a light bad for your eyes?

    It depends on the source and intensity of the light.

    Staring at a lamp will produce no long-term ill effects except maybe some eye strain.

    On the other hand, Staring at the sun can burn your retina and cause severe nearsightedness or blindness.

    UV rays are the culprit.
