Help answer this question below.
I have a 2001 grand am se and this may sound stupid but it works. Put enough gas in it to give it at least 3/4 a tank. If there isn't enough gas in it it wont pickit up. I have had to put 25 dollars and mine and finally it cranked. But now mine is having bigger problems it runs out of gas or its not picking it up at almost a 1/2 a tank. It only runs out if I park it facing down hill and it won't run out on the road. I hate putting so much gas in mine and wandering if its ever gonna crank but it always does.

Still sounds like a fuel pump issue. There may be enough gravitational force or pressure from 3/4 of a tank to push it to the engine enough for the vacuum of the cylinder to draw the rest in. Get the fuel pump replaced along with the fuel filter and that should fix your problem.
