I think specifically when you are discussing teenagers it's more of a curiosity thing.

I know when I was in my teens, as a girl we always heard horror stories of bleeding out of the vagina forever after the first time. Or getting pregnant even though you used a condom. Females have more to fear for their 'first time'. Also body image is a big part too. I'm pretty sure most girls in their teens have a hard time looking at themselves nude in the mirror, let alone letting someone else see them.

However on the male perspective, they just want to get it on. Boys usually have a little less body issues then girls. And even if they are subconscious, they are more attracted to how awesome it must feel rather then worrying over how they look.

Plus hormones play a big role. I believe men create something like 500 sperm a day? Meanwhile women are born with the amount of eggs that they will need for their entire lives. Of course it gets more complex then that, however this is why men NEED to masturbate and for women it’s a choice.
