Is there a Biblical reference related to why Catholics eat fish on Friday? Is it simply tradition or what is the reasoning behind it?

    Friday. This is the day that Christ died, so abstaining from the shedding (and consuming) of blood seems appropriate. fasting and abstaining also takes place during Lent.

    • Not ingesting blood is a prohibitions in the Old Testament, and apply to ANY day. It is mentioned numerous times and is the reason animals must have their blood drained before slaughtering to be kosher.
