H202 is really only useful for debridement, or removing dead tissue. It is less useful for open wounds, as the blood contains peroxidases, enzymes that inactivate hydrogen peroxide.

Alcohol, while effecting at disinfecting, produces a stinging sensation upon contact with a wound.

Most hospitals prefer povidone iodine for preoperative care and infection treatment.

    • so the company who produces h202 has basically been making profit for a product that does virtuallly nothing but remove dead tissue? is it not a disinfectant?
