Doesn't really touch on the scriptural reasons See John 20:21-23

You got it half-right. A person's sins can't be forgiven by a priest. Only by Jesus can their sins be forgiven.

What are you joking encyclopedia? The priests sins are scarlet red, they are in no position to offer prayers for anyone.

Anonymous you are actually ANNOY-MOUS, cut your bigoted comments. The RC Church has opened its records for 50 years, neither my dear Protestant denominations, doctors, lawyers, high school coaches, dentists, school teachers, police officers, have opened theirs. Study the whole story and stop revealing your lack of charity, truth, justice and fairness.

I don't agree that a priest is more righteous, but thanks for sharing the verse. It's funny to hear people scream about how confessing to a priest is unbiblical when the Bible provides a clear rationale for it.
