Other than smoking, have you ever been addicted to anything?

    I'm not sure if this qualifies, but for a while I was seriously addicted to self-injury.

    I tried to kick the habit almost continuously, and even succeeded a few times, but somehow I always ended up relapsing.
    At the worst of times it got to the point where I couldn't even sleep of think clearly unless I was feeling some kind of pain, and I'm probably going to have the some of scars from those times for the rest of my life.
