Help answer this question below.

If you were going to troll future archeologists, what would you do?

I have fantasized for years that things like Stonehenge or the Easter Island statues had no purpose other than to confuse future archeologists. Basically they were massive practical jokes. I think about this because I would do something like that.

Whatever it is, it would not work unless it was on a large scale, requiring a great deal of effort and organization. The archeologists would have to believe that it is a significant cultural or religious event, rather than an odd thing out. For instance, wearing a funny hat or building a strange building would not do it.

I have written out an example of what I would do and will put it in an answer so this description will not be a short story.

I once read an article that said that whenever archaeologists find a large ancient building, they claim it's a temple.

They do that because it is more fun and prestigious to discover a new temple than, for example, a bakery or shoemaker.

After further digging, and they discover a bunch of petrified leather sandals marked "50% off on Volcano Day", then they revise their earlier decisions.

So, build a gigantic temple, make it look really spectacular, and very obviously it must be a temple, but leave no clue to the nature of the religion, the deity or person worshiped, or anything like that.

It should be in a remote location, many miles from any town, far from any homes or any signs of a population.

Just a huge temple in the middle of nowhere, that is not Christian, Jewish, Hindu, or any other known religion.

And fill one small back room completely with used condoms, piled high, mountains of them.

---now why does this not surprise me?

It would be nice payback to do what we describe.

I think yours would work with no problem whatsoever.
