I have fantasized for years that things like Stonehenge or the Easter Island statues had no purpose other than to confuse future archeologists. Basically they were massive practical jokes. I think about this because I would do something like that.
Whatever it is, it would not work unless it was on a large scale, requiring a great deal of effort and organization. The archeologists would have to believe that it is a significant cultural or religious event, rather than an odd thing out. For instance, wearing a funny hat or building a strange building would not do it.
I have written out an example of what I would do and will put it in an answer so this description will not be a short story.
Are Judaic religions based in ethnocentrism? Is ethnocentrism strongly tied to racism?
