Why doesn't America have super fast commuter trains like Japan?

    We do, ever heard of Amtrak? But we tend to fear high speed derailment deaths more than oriental people.

    • I suppose it it less than a commuter train as it is a passenger train in general.

    • Yes, I have heard of Amtrak. I have ridden Amtrak. I have also heard of dinosaurs.

    • The problem is our tracks are not designed for high speed. They aren't properly aligned with tight enough tolerances to allow for such.
