According to the Christian Bible, a prophet is one sent by God to bring His message whatever that may be. Sometimes it was to tell of the coming of Jesus, sometimes it was to tell of future events and sometimes it is to teach the scriptures. The Bible says that many will come professing to be prophets of the Living God, but if one claiming to be a prophet of God, is proven to be incorrect in anything he or she says, then he/she is not a prophet of God, hence making them a false prophet. God's true prophets are accurate 100% of the time.

    • So Jonah was a false prophet?  Nineveh was not destroyed in forty days, but lasted on for centuries.
