Does flatulence truly burn if near an open flame?

    It depends on it's gas composition. If your flatulence is a result of lactose intolerance it's going to be mainly composed of carbon dioxide (CO2) which is not flammable.

    If your flatulence is a result of fermenting fiber it will have a higher methane (CH4) composition and will ignite. I wouldn't recommend doing it though. If you rupture your rectum you will bleed to death in a manner of minutes.
