You really need to get a teenage girl to answer this for you, but seeing as I used to be a teenage girl, I'll give it a go.
Most of the reason I preffered slightly older men was because 19- 25 year olds, I'm afraid to say, are generally a lot better looking than 13 - 16 year olds. When I was a teenager the boys my own age were generally spotty, scrawny, badly dressed, and obsessed with computer games, Baywatch, and terrible music. Most of them spoke in grunts and started acting like idiots when their friends were around. Most of them I couldn't perceive having very much in common with. In truth I probably didn't have very much in common with the older guys either, but because I wasn't around them on a regular basis I could convince myself that I did have something in common with them without having to find out otherwise.
I think there's also a certain amount of prestige in going out with an older guy at that age, it somehow makes you feel as if you must be more mature. Maybe the car is part of it, but I know plenty of guys without cars who are the subject of teenage crushes, so I'm guessing that's a relatively minor issue.
You should also note that even amongst adult women its quite common for the man in a relationship to be a few years older than her. Perhaps for the same reason most women prefer a partner who's taller than them - it gives them a feeling of being protected. (Just a theory)
Me and my boyfriend have been dating for about 2 months and we hardly talk or anything.. Any suggestions of what we or I should do? (:

Women also tend to be a couple of years more mature mentally than men. I know I'm about 4 1/2 and my wife is around 17(again!) mentally.

I think in teenagers this is true but I think it kind of evens out in the 20's. But then again one could easily say that most of my guy friends are more mature then the average.

im not drunk all the time, nd i never got spotty, scrawny, badly dressed, tho i do love the computer games and only watched baywatch before puberty, and the music i like isnt terrible at all. also i wasnt a gropin kinda guy, only when drunk, or so im told. Oh never acted like an idiot lol and still no girls ever liked me. :'( probs too weird.

lady fuchsia, i agree with you to a high extent! but, in a way, if guys of 13-16 were such pigs back then, then wont they also be when they are older? i mean, i think you are lucky you grew up back then, because i think back then people we're still 'developing'(like there was no emo or something and all that) and i think people were still more 'nice' and 'innocent'(i don't really know how to explain haha xD) back then. i think it's just the guys themselves. and im sure that in 10 only about 2-3 guys would be the good ones... bad but that's that =/

im only 16 and i agree about the part that i prefer slightly older guys but honestly i don't know why, i may be just attracted to them.
also, i think it's because -like you said- i would feel more protected and loved :)
