Yes, you have to be baptized to go to heaven. It is not a "public proclamation" of you accepting a faith. You must be baptized for the remission of your sins and life a faithful life. Believing on Jesus Christ alone is not enough. Mark 16:16 NKJV: "He who believes and is BAPTIZED will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned". It plainly says it right there in scripture. Heaven and Hades (not Hell) are two completely different places. Heaven is where you shall live with God if you life a faithful life after baptism. Hades is split into paradise/torment. Everybody will stay in Hades until Jesus comes back to claim his own. So, all-in-all, Yes you MUST be baptized to go to Heaven.
