Do any of you gals out there "of a certain age" mind being called dear, honey or sweetie by strangers? I don't mind at all...but some people seem to feel it is disrespectful. How do you feel?

  • I think it depends on who says it. If it's some loser saying it in passing cause he's trying to hit on me then it's offensive. If I met some guy who was from the south as an example where it's common to call everyone that, then I don't mind.

    • I guess everything is in context...I don't have to worry about anyone hitting on me since I'm a retired lady and not a young lady. Thanks for your answer. :)

    • I slip and call women "sweetheart". It's left over from the movies or something. I don;t mean anything by the term.

    • I'm almost 72. I wouldn't mind your calling me sweetheart in the slightest Philippe. I've never understand those who are offended when someone uses a term of endearment directed at them! Happy Saturday to you! :)
