Does anyone else think that WWIII could be just around the corner (<5-10 years) with the continuously heightening tensions between the West and Middle East/Iran?

Well, certainly not a world-war, that would require most of the countries (or at least the more powerful ones) to be involved, which doesn't look like what's going to happen...

Most Western countries are pulling out of the whole Middle-East conflict, and Iran looks more like it's trying to provoke an attack from someone else, than setting up to strike first...

As long as the people in power within the next decade or so are reasonably intelligent (apparently a lot to ask of politicians these days), then things should be fine...

If however, we have a George Bush Mk2 come into power, we're f---ed. Period. Make peace with your God, lay down, and wait for the nukes.

Heh, not really : P But there needs to be some very careful behaviour from all countries over the next decade or so if we are to avoid even more conflict.

Regardless, we aren't looking at a world-war, just a large conflict between 2 or 3 countries 'maybe', if things go badly wrong.
