England had the foresight to spend several centuries hanging their criminals or deporting them to Botany Bay in Australia. In an almost Darwinian fashion, that and the educational benefit of seeing the wicked on the end of a rope, strongly discouraged the criminal population, so much so that it wasn't until the 1960's that British police had to start carrying guns.

In Australia, the deported criminals kept each other in check and evolved a great society.

    • Actually, most police still don't carry guns as a matter of routine.

    • Do you have any evidence at all to back up your statement? I'm from Australia and that is one of the most ridiculous statements i have ever read.

Most "criminals" deported to Australia were convicted of theft (usually food to feed their starving families) or committed crimes to get to Australia on purpose to find a better life.

Also, around 16,500 were deported to Australia. Australia is now a country of 26 million people.
