If birth control pills are not taken at the same exact time every day (an hour or so off, every night) are they still effective?

    An hour or so off schedule is nothing. My friend got pregnant when she said she'd missed her pill by 4 hours. She's not the BSing type, but I doubt this is very common. If you are more than a few hours late with your pill, just use condoms as a back-up.

    • I doubt your friend was BS'ing, but I also doubt that taking the pill 4 hours late was the cause of her contraceptive failure. Women DO get pregnant on the pill, even when they take them as directed. Methinks your friend was just that unlucky 1 out of 100.

    • You know, you are probably right. Too many of us assume that 99% effective is the same as 100%!
