It's much better to learn clarinet before you learn saxophone. Clarinet forces you to develop a stiffer embouchure, and many of the fingerings can be applied to saxophone. That way when you switch, you already have your foundation built for you. Going from saxophone to clarinet is difficult, because you have to learn many new fingerings, and stiffen your embouchure (rather than loosen).
