No but that's a good Idea:):)
-
No, not my own kids. I want them to view working out/exercise to be fun. I HAVE made my athletes (I'm a coach) do it, though.
-
No. I'm afraid it will teach them not to like doing sit-ups and push-ups.
-
Never.
-
No, but, my father did.
-
OMG! You MONSTER! Now chin ups...yeah that would be okay.
-
God, no. I'm not a masochist. I love my children - disciplining them by forcing them to partake in unpleasant physical acts is about as far from good parenting as I can imagine.
-
I think to even think along those lines, you have to have either been in the military or been raised by someone else that was in the military. It would never even cross my mind.
-
No, but I did have them do laps around the house.
-
No, I think, and this is just MY OPINION, that a punishment like that is wrong. Children are not all athletic, most aren't. It just makes the parent a drill sargeant. I don't want to be one.
-
Haha. If my mom tried to do that, my sister and I would DESTROY her. I can do at least 500. She'd get bored waiting for us to finish. Push ups not so much. Maybe 20 legitimate ones without a break.
-
I am going to give them a choice between Church or Push-Ups and keep changing the numbers until I determine how many push ups = going to church.
-
I used to be a school prefect and made the dweebs I caught on misdemeanors do push ups as a 'punishment', God I was evil
-
No. I find it more effective to make them sit still. If two or more are involved, I sometimes make them sit about five feet apart without making faces or touching each other...just thinking about why they are there. Then they have to hug and apologize before rejoining the family.

One reason why we have so many fat people in America is because it is tolerated. Some people are predisposed to it but ultimately, unless you have a real medical problem, you choose your own BMI. We shouldn't let fat people off so easily and we would have less of them. So if you have a fat kid stop rewarding it with ice cream and twinkies and start punishing it with additional exercise. When you see a fat kid you too should think of the kid doing exercise not excuses why it is OK and how evil people are who make their kids do pushups.
-
AHHH. My biology teacher does that if we say shut up.
-
No way!! That is cruel. I discipline them by whipping them with my belt.
-
No I would have never disciplined them like that. Both sit-ups and push-ups make their muscles grow and that will not allow them to grow as tall as they should so as you can see it is bad for them. Best regards.
-
nope.. i never would force a child to do them.. ever
-
no, but my 14 year old son belongs to the air cadets with our air force, he is made to do those on a regular basis for punishment, still its his choice to belong..........
-
No, I did not. However, if they chose to not go to sleep and play around for too long in bed, they got to get out of bed and scrub floors so they'd get tired enough to go to sleep.
-
What a wonderful question. Ha ha. I'm sure they'll have some sort of complex down the road when it comes to exercising, but that is hilarious... and possibly effective. Did it work?
-
No. It only wastes good energy that they'll need when they clean the house.
-
no, thats just crazy! what would that achieve?!
-
you could motivate them if it helps them with other persuites, by doing it along with them!!!! I would never push my child into doing something they didnt want to do unless it was something they had to do!!!
-
no...but when I was in elementary school we had to hold dictionaries on our hands (up above our heads) if we spelled too many words wrong in our homework
