  • because if the bumpers were made of hard plastic (like the ones on real cars), not only would they have to be constantly replaced through damage, they would also cost lots of money. Also, the cars don't go fast enough to warrant anything else and they serve to protect the driver and the chassis of the car itself. It's probably also got something to do with the way they are powered as well, but of that, I am not sure.
