Berlin Zoo (Germany) has almost 14000 animals of 1388 different species. San Diego Zoo (USA) has only 4000 animals of 950 species. Chester Zoo (England) has more animals than San Diego (9000+), but a smaller variety (only 422 species represented). It covers a larger area than San Diego and Berlin Zoo. Beijing Zoo claims more than 7000 animals of 600 species. San Diego Zoo is therefore rather small among world zoos in terms of number of exhibits, but does have one of the best ranges of species.
