  • Maybe it's cage is too small. Maybe there is something stuck on it's tail so it tries to gnaw at it and breaks it's feathers. Maybe it isn't getting enough nutrients in it's food, thus producing weak feathers Maybe it has an ailment, inspect it's skin, does it look unusual? Call a pet store that sell cockatiels and see if this is a natural process. (My gecko sheds every month, but at first I thought she was dying because of her gray color.) If you are still concerned, you should bring it to the vet or call first and talk to the vet assistant. Good luck!
