  • Because they deserve it.
  • Its kind of like a hazing of coming into High School, and they are the youngest for the big men on campus to pick on easily... they don't have many older friends yet to help them.
  • Depending on what school, what town what whatever, and the overall attitude of the neighbourhood, you are at risk of being bullied by seniors simply because: (i) They like bullying (ii) They don't like your face therefore they make fun of you (iii) They have nothing better to do (iv) They'd rather watch you squirm than do their homework unlike the other normal students. (v) They KNOW they can bully you without repercussions. Oh well, to understand this stupid phenomenon that is rather apparent in cavemen and neanderthals well, go read up on psychology. But then again, its not really that hard to understand. They just want to feel bigger, that's all. :)
  • I agree with what TJ posted: "Its kind of like a hazing of coming into High School, and they are the youngest for the big men on campus to pick on easily... they don't have many older friends yet to help them." Also because it's almost tradition. When the older kids were freshmen THEY got picked on. They are just 'paying it forward'.
  • Simply because people are mean. But specifically because the freshman are new and younger. The older kids feel like they can stand up to freshman. It's like how younger siblings are always pushed around by older siblings. Get it?
  • Of course, depending on the School you go to. Will greatly define how you are treated. When I was a freshman, I was aware about how the fresh man were treated so I immediatly made friends with the "popular kids" that gave me a big advantage, I think that it helped out my class alot. My real answer is that the upper classmen can see that you are unexperienced and are kind of irratated by that so the freshman are tormented by it.
  • Actually, at my highschool, you don't get bullied as a freshmen. When you become a sophomore, thats when the upperclassmen deem you worthy of being teased. When you are a freshmen, they just tend to ignore you. The whole teasing the sophomores thing is like a way of making friends with them...kinda like welcoming into the group. It only lasts like the first month of school. No one ever gets beat up or anything. You just kinda get looked over untill sophomore year. You are not important enough as a freshmen to get teased. They don't want to waste their time on you. Its also like that in the surrounding highschools.
  • well its tradition.. i am a senior and way back when... (lol).... i was a freshman too... we just love to have the fear.. i would never beat up someone but its like you have a senior buddy thats cares enough to cause you grief.. wink.. like intiation.. like during homecoming..TRADITION
  • It's only in the beginning of the year when they're making mistakes like coming to the wrong class or overcrowding the middle stairway. They're just looked down on for it. It's really human nature to condescend the junior. But there's also the regular bullies who will target the vulnerable which will often be freshmen.
  • it's kinda like a vicious cycle the older kids were tormented when they were freshmen so they feel like they have to take it out of the present freshmen but at my school most of the freshmen at my school are actually "popular"
  • Because they're easy targets.
