  • When the Bible refers to Jesus as the Son of God, sometimes it is referring to the fact that Jesus is "the Christ/the Messiah" or God's annointed King through whom God would accomplish His purposes and promises. During Old Testament days the kings of Israel were sometimes called sons of God because they were put there/enthroned/appointed by God. Psalm 2 uses "son" in that sense.
  • I'd say the whole bible is a metaphor, not to be taken literally. It's full of confusion and contradictions when taken literally.
  • It demonstrates the closeness of a relationship, for sure. Also - similar to how a father begets a son, the person of Father within the Godhead has begotten the person of the Son (in some manner beyond our comprehension). This is not to say that God the Father existed before the Son did (God has always been, so any discussion of who came before whom is meaningless), but that the Son's existence is a consequence of the Father's existence.
  • Jesus told his followers, "Ye are all gods, and children of the Most High." When he was baptised, a BIRD came down and said, "This day have I begotten thee." Maybe the dove was god? But even a divine bird can't "beget" a grown man.
  • Logically analyses, If He Is the Son Of God, Then He Too Has To Be God, And If God Is Born After Father, Then It Means He Was Not There Before, And If He Has A Start He Has An End. So he is not the son of god God was there before and will be there forever (Beget) is a lower animal act of sex which is not the attribute of god I agree bible is full of confusion and contradictions (because it’s been edited for personal benefits)
  • It must certainly wasn't 'child support' sense, that's for sure
  • Jesus was God's 'only begotten son' in that he was the only thing/person that God created by himself. Jesus was created. He is called 'the firstborn of all creation'. (Thus including him among things that were created.) After Jesus creation he worked alongside his Father in the creation of all other things. Colossians 1:15,16 "He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by Him all things were created both in the heavens and on the earth,..." However, when the bible says he was 'begotten' this doesn't imply any sexual act. It was simply his creation.
  • The bible may say it but Jesus never did. Man said it. It's not true. Jesus was a prophet.
