Why do most girls want guys to start the conversation? Why don't girls want to start them first?

Well, there is this guy I know and there are times when I wish he would start the conversation first. I think it would show that he is actually interested in talking to me. With him, I start them a lot. I don't have a problem with starting them. I just wish he would initiate our conversations at times, too. Does that make sense?

Cuz I'm shy. I can't be expected to do EVERYthing, now can I? But seriously, I have no problem with starting a conversation if I really want to talk to the person. Some girls are like the guys... afraid that if they say something, they'll be rejected. I think people worry too much. I'm including myself in that.
