  • Sure depends on the ice cream these days. Basically, 1 cup of rich vanilla is about 249 calories, and a rich chocolate is 377ish. That's because chocolate such as milk, semisweet and bittersweet contains sugar as well as fat. Even unsweetened chocolate contains fat. All that equals calories. Vanilla is a flavor, comming from extract or vanilla beans. No fat, no sugar. You can certainly find both flavors with a calorie count that's all over the map. If you want a sumptious flavor, you'd be better off sacrificing sugar as opposed to fat. And go for the natural flavors. My favorite ice cream is Haagen Daz. All natural flavors, lots of fat, sugar and deliciousness. Oink!
