According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_most_expensive_films King Kong (2005) is the most expensive film ever made, with production costs of $207,000,000. In close 2nd is Titanic at $200,000,000 However, if the costs are adjusted for inflation (to 2005 dollars), the most expensive movie ever made becomes Cleopatra(1963) with estimated adjusted production costs of $286,400,000. Followed by Titanic, with adjusted production costs of $247,000,000. I think the inflation adjusted list is more interesting. Check it out.

Look at Titanic. Hundreds of millions of dollars were spent on this movie alone. Imagine the other costs of the movie.

After adjusting for inflation, that title should probably go to "War and Peace"...: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_most_expensive_films

The Soviet-produced film adaptation of Leo Tolstoy’s “War and Peace” was produced in 1968 for over $100 million. Originally released in 4 parts, War and Peace has a running time of just over 8 hours. Even with its phenomenal budget, it took 7 years to produce. The film was also featured in the “Guinness Book of World Records” for the Battle of Borodino scene which, with its 120,000 soldiers, is one of the largest battles ever filmed. At an estimated adjusted cost of over $500 million, it’s not likely the most expensive movie ever made will be unseated anytime soon. http://most-expensive.net/movie-ever-made

Jackass the Movie $15,345,976,237

It's definitely Sergei Bondarchuk's War and Peace. Nothing else comes close. Actually, the estimates with inflation are more like $600 million - $700 million (not $500 million) if it was made today. That's FAR above #2 (Cleopatra at $295 million) or Spider-man 3 ($258 million) or Titanic ($247 million). And believe me, you see every dollar on the screen. Some of the battles are so massive they look like CG effects had to be involved. Nope, in the 1960's, it was all REAL.
