According to the Microsoft help, "It is believed (although not proven) that every game is winnable." although there are numerous websites on the Internet with various combinations that they believe cannot be completed.

In the older versions of freecell (win95, 98) my friend's mother actually played through all 15000+ games 1 at a time and completed them all. I've noticed that on Windows XP, there are now 1,000,000 different games and I don't think she has that kind of free time or XP so I won't know for sure if it is possible.

Nope. If you play MS Freecell, and go to "choose game" and enter -1 or -2, you will get two unwinnable games. If you look at the patterns of the cards, you'll see why.

Game #11982 is unwinnable. If you play with actual cards, you will probably get an unwinnable game from time to time.

11982 is unwinnable. That is the only one I personally know of, but if I find others I will post.

can anyone out their solve freecell 3889

I won 3889 on the first try and then replayed and logged my moves, although it was a longer process. In this short hand the number of the card is followed by the suit, and fc stands for free cell, and r followed by the number is row, r8 is row 8. If the second card is lower than the first it means putting the card in the home cell. (example 4c-5d means put the 4 of clubs on the 5 of diamonds). The card I name may be the first in a series. i found a FREE CELL game which i cannot finish it is 27201 to me its unwinable

i am having a tough time with game #26693

Just wanted to google some hard Freecell games. I was able to finish games 26693, 27201 and 3889 so I know these are possible. I came across game 10191 which was very difficult but eventually finished it. I am now working on game 11982. I beleieve that there are some games/combinations that are not possible as shown by inserting game # -1 or -2. David
