  • I don't have a dog. My cat couldn't be bothered.
  • Shes about 4 pounds and does pretty good with protecting me - Her bark get's um' every time
  • It depends if shes hypo or not if yes then she would, if not we can watch her sleep, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz lol
  • Yup. My doggies already been put in situations like that, and she did. It was pretty cool. She's fluffy and really cool, but can be evil if she has to be. She had to 'protect' me from a wildcat, stray dogs, and people :)
  • Definitly. He already has a few times.
  • My dog would do it even if she didn't have to. Nobody touches her mommy, nobody!
  • My Dogs certainly would have protected me they both weighed about 110-115 lbs German Shepherds. Not at all agressive or frightening in fact very gentle but they were very well trained
  • Only if she knew I had the last pack of wieners on the planet.
  • sometimes it protects but it finds out that he is also in danger he wanna run away.
  • My Manx cats would be more apt to whip your butt in a crisis: the dog is a whimp!
  • I have the friendliest German Shepherd...I'm afraid not.
  • yes, all three of our dogs have trained with the police in bitework. The bloodhound isn't allowed to do it anymore since the last time he bit through the bitesleeve and almost drew blood. He wouldn't hesitate taking someone out, Xena would tear someone up, just for the fun of it, and Traci would probably get in a few bites herself!
  • I don't know... She is a very happy go lucky dog... Whenever people come over she doesn't bark or anything... And she greets them at the door... But one night she was viciously barking at the back door for a long time... And I found my gate open... We found no one... but I think she might have scared them off... So I'm not really sure... I always hope that she would protect me...
  • Absolutely! She, already, will not let ANYONE touch me, the wife, or the kids at all! I have no doubts that anyone walking in my door that is unknown would meet fierce opposition!
  • Yes. A pity that I just have cats.
  • My Cane Corso is being trained for Schutzhund, so if they're wearing a bite sleeve I know she'd go for it. Otherwise, maybe. My Boxer: Yes. My Labrador Retriever: Is the assailant a tennis ball?
  • I don`t know it, but I`ve heard that every dog alsways protect it`s owner, but I hope never to know about it.
  • Hannah is a great early warning system, but I suspect she would run FOR ME if someone actually hurt her during her efforts....She would be more likely (I'm predicting only, don't know for sure) to be a great FEAR biter. Patch...is a Parson's Jack and was traumatized as a puppy by his prior owner...he's a great yapper...but I wouldn't hold my breath... It's all good...I'm a great shot as long as the gun is loaded! <wink> Hannah then Patch (or Patch's butt) with Sadie the Sadist (cat) I just realized that EMILY is the most likely aggressor on our property at this time. She is crafty, creative, and goes by the policy of "show no mercy," if she is pissed off. She's made the dog cry and 3 out of 4 cats live in fear of her attentions...the 4th cat and Emily the Great...have actually bonded and are close friends...so figure!
  • To the best of her 20 lb ability, she would. My parents' retriever mix who spends a lot of time with me... she's kind of one of those lovable lummoxes that might stand to slurp the intruder to death...
  • He would, even though he weighs only 5 lbs.
  • I think most dogs would do their best to protect members of their human pack. I used to think my last GSD was soft, until one early morning two drunk guys were walking towards me mouthing off. When they got right up close Samson went ballistic. It took all my strength to keep hold of the lead. The big guys face out the two went pale, and they both changed their tune pretty quickly.
  • Dogs are very loyal, I believe they would protect the owner.
  • My Australian Shepherd would. My Coonhound would bark and howl enough to alert the neighbors, but would hide behind the furniture before she would attack!
  • *shrug* I don't know. I have 3. The oldest, my huskylab, would be the one most likely to throw down. She's a complete alpha and is always the one to keep the others in line. Now, the 2nd two are less aggressive, but...I think I person might think twice before attacking someone with two pitbulls at their side anyway.
  • One would. My Rott/Doby mix. My Lab is a little soft in the pants.
  • he acts tough but when he hears or sees something, he'll growl. Overall, i think he would. He growls and barks at others when out and about.
  • Yes, she would. She's a Jack Russell mix, and she thinks she's a Rottweiler, LOL..She protects me from the animals that come on the television screen, its so funny, she growls and barks and every hair on her back stands straight up, until the screen is free of animals, then she'll look back at me and wait for me to tell her that she scared them off. She doesn't like it if she thinks someone is hitting me, or the kids. The kids terrorize her with that, they'll play around like they are hurting each other, just to get her stirred up.
  • I hope I never have to find out, but hopefully.
  • Absolutely!! My dog would eat them alive!! He doesn't take any s--t off of anyone, especially if someone is messin with me!
  • He'd TRY, but he's no bigger than my thumb nail or so....
  • Depends on your dogs personality my dog would protect me from anything if he thought i was being hurt. which kinda scares me he might get hurt but he has one weekness if someone is petting him or rubbing his belly and i say ow he just sits there so is all depends on your dog
  • The only way to know this for sure is to test the dog in a real life simulated conditions. A lot of people would like to think their dog would protect them but it is not necessarily the case. It's a warm comfy thought to imagine they would though. http://www.protectiondogforums.com
  • Yes he has...me and my boyfriend were in a huge fight I admit I was going crazy psycho and hitting him, so he pushed me away and my dog bit him when he pushed me.
  • Definetly!! My rottweiler even stands in front of me when some one suspicious passes by us.
  • No. He would bark, sniff and run away.
  • yes, amader of fact, my pit bull has saved my life 2 or 3 times. once i was walking and my dog was about 20 feet away from me and a HUGE dog charged at me and my pit noteced and lunged at it and there was a huge fight and anouther time some person started stalking me and he went to grab me and my pit protected me. i am very thankfull for that dog she is a blue nose american pit bull terrier and she i now about 3 years old and the best dog i ever had!!
  • I think my small dog would run over to whoever was around and wag his tail and try to get petted. My other dog would bark and yowl like a wild thing, and if approached run like a scared rabbit.
  • Yup! Even though he's only about a foot tall, Xam is convinced he is a big dog.
  • To answer your question- YES I have a large shepherd mix and he has bitten someone to get them away from me. The man was a registered sex offender who lived next door. I was always getting digusting comments from the guy that made me so uneasy and one day when he was coming towards me (I was on my porch with my dog) Pilot just went for him. He had never bitten anyone before that and I now know that he'll be keeping an eye out for my safety.
  • Yes,that is when the true rat terrier emerges!all 15 lbs of him.
  • I don't doubt it for a moment. Though size wise she wouldn't exactly intimidate too many!
  • yes he would soft but agressive if u come near me or his home
  • Definitely. My german shepherd was once locked in his [large] enclosure, and my brother punched me. I think he would have been killed if Tommy was out. (not necessarily a good thing, but assuring to know he would have protected me.)
  • I dont know, she's pretty friendly towards people. Now if a cute woodland creature came up to me, yeah, she'd "protect" me. I think she might warn someone else in the fmaily, but she' only weighs 20 pounds...she cant do much.
  • Yes i do they all protect thier owns and family around them ! :)
  • I know my German shepherd mix would. Crazy story... One day a lady that I don't know walked into my house (without knocking or anything), thinking it belonged to someone that used to live there. My dog is very sweet, but she lunged at the woman, and she was snarling and growling, and I had to hold her back until she left. My Golden Retriever I dont know about. She's a very gentle dog, good with strangers, and when that ^^ happened she was there and just wagged her tail lol. My chihuahua might bark and bite the person, but I don't know how much damage he could actually do.
  • My dog would probably try. But he's close to 90 in dog years, he's epileptic, and has cataracts in both eyes. He can't walk up steps and he only barks at people he knows. In his younger days he could tear you up though:)
  • lol. i don't think so. but she did go after the air-conditioner man once.she's 72 pounds of fluff and love, very gentle.
  • well, i do have a great dane, and he is well trained and i am sure he had to protact if he had to..
  • I know they both would. They are lovely pets and friendly, but I keep big dogs for the safety as well as the companionship. I trust them both to defend me if necessary.
  • Yes i think she would
  • My working Belgian Malinois has protected me few times,he is the best buddy and protector i could have..love him so much....
  • My dog already has. I know for a fact that she would protect me as much as possible even if it cost her life! Most dogs will!! My ex boyfriend and I got into a big arguement and he tried getting physical... my dog bit him in the butt for lifting his hand to me! Needless to say she will not trust men so easily anymore. And needless to say the relationship ended!
  • My lab/collie/great dane thinks he is the biggest bully in the country. He is the biggest lap dog and suck that walks on four legs in my house but if you are a stranger forget it. You don't get within 5 feet of me and my husband and he is blocking them. He has a deep growl and a very deep bark but his Kisses are worse then his bite. I always get told that this boy would never let anyone hurt me and they are right. He loves kids and is very protective of them as well. My brother was playing with his son and my dog Leroy thought he was going to hurt him and put a stop to it by putting the 140lb body in between. This pup just turned a year old and is very protective
  • My two boys are very social and like to greet people. We never had them trained, they just naturally took after our examples I guess. But they're very good and every morning get on our bed to sleep with us. They are 85 and 100 pounds. I think they would protect us because I never worry if they love us or not, I know they do. I tried to upload this awesome photo of my daughter with our dogs, but it would not let me upload.
  • Well I have two Westies. I am sure the one would try her best. But the other one..no it would protect the refrigerator. Ha ha...
  • My dog would. He is a "dopey" looking clumsy dog but he doesnt like it when people wrestles with me. He will get in between me and who ever is playing. (He knows were playing :)
  • My bad ass weiner dog would, but the other two would hide.
  • Yes - an example, when I first got my Lab Rocket, I was trying to get him to get in the water and fetch his toy. He wouldn't do it. It started to float away and I jumped in to get it. He immediately jumped into the water after me like he was going to save me.
  • They have in the past, even if it's just by making their presence known. We always have Newfoundlands and the drooling alone scares off most people LOL!!!
