Should elephant trunks point up or down for good luck?

I definitely would say for good luck that elephant trunks should be pointing upward[Indian elephant] I think any native of India will agree with me.

I have to say pointing down as pointing upward was not too lucky for the elephant. :)

i would say up! that way any treasures he holds in his trunk wont fall out! plus.. they look happier that way

I was told, and also read somewhere where it said up is for good luck.

A quick search on the 'net leads me to believe that the consensus is that a trunk curling (not pointing) up is good luck and down is bad; however, one site modified this by saying that 'up' stores good luck and 'down' dispenses good luck to others, not necessarily bringing bad luck to yourself. Also, buying an elephant for yourself is bad luck, but giving an elephant to another person is good luck for them.

From my angle I would think an Elephant with his trunk up symbolises it being on guard, strength & alertness. With Trunk down happy, open & carefree.

It should be pointing up, if it points down...it brings bad luck to your life....so if you have one pointing down, turn it upside down. LOL
