  • The leak may actually be at the top. When mine did that, I discovered that the plastic piece which guides the water into the tank had deteriorated where they are fastened together. Then when I checked in with Bunn for the part, I found out that there was a repair kit which fixed it rather easily. It was either free or cost very little, and is designed to be installed without disassemling the coffe maker. Hope yours is that simple! There's a stcker on the bottom of the coffeemaker with a code number you'll need when you call or visit their website. Go ahead and find it and write it down first.
  • This is probably not the place for this backup question, but how do you know that this is the problem. Do you have to take it apart to tell? That makes me nervous to think about.
  • There are two sources of leaks in Bunn coffee makers. The most common is deterioration of the plastic tub at the top of the unit where it empties into the heater reservoir. Bunn has a kit they sent me at no charge which contains a cup-shaped seal, stainless steel washer and a new nut plus a removal/installation tool and a full set of repair instructions. You can make the repair by removing the top lid. The second source of leaks is the o-ring seal at the top of the stainless steel reservoir that holds the hot water. To fix mine, I ordered a silicone o-ring from Marco rubber WWW.marcorubber.com, part number S1000-352. The o-ring is 4-7/8" ID by 3/16" CS and works great. They charge an exhorbitant $10.00 for the ring and $7.00 for shipping, but it's a lot cheaper than a new coffee maker. You have to remove the upper plastic reservoir, unscrew the hot water distribution head and stainless nut under the top section where the hot water comes out, undo the screws on the top of the hot water reservoir tank and lift out the top of the tank that has the heater and temp sensors attached. This fix is not supported by Bunn (obviously) due to UL approval issues and safety concerns. However, it works and if you're handy and careful, it can save investing in a new unit.
  • I also had a leaking Bunn coffee maker and i was waiting for a ride to come get me to go buy a new coffee maker when i decied just to remove the top screws and have a look, i also seen the top resovoir had worn away at the nut where it empties into the holding tank, i did not read these comments or i would have ordered a kit from Bunn, i was on my way to Canadian Tire to purchase a new 1 anyway, so when i got there i just went to the Auto Department and purchased a large oil drain plug gasket and purchased some silicone. I also grabbed a bottle of CLR so i could clean the tank and heating rods in the tank,i put in the gasket ,tighten the nut and put a bead of silicone around the worn edge, let it dry overnight and woke up too making perfect cup of coffee, with no mess. Very easy machine to take apart, just remember which wires to remove and write them down, there is really only 2 wires white and black, take your time and your machine will work like new, i also went the extra and put fibre washers where ever the metal came into contact with plastic. So i should be good for a long time now, but i will take it apart every year now just to clean the sludge out of the tank, it looked like chocolate slushy in there. Well time to brew a cup..Goodluck
  • I too had a very faithful Bunn, 13 years. Then it too started leaking. Well it was my second in 20 years. I went right out and bought another Bunn. Sitting down to have my first cup, from the new pot. I decided I wasn't going to let it die that easy. So I started dissecting it. Found the bottom bowl half gone, the real thin washer/seal gone, well almost, that looks to be Teflon or nylon. Well I didn't use silicone, I was afraid of contamination by heat to the water. So I came up with using food grade heat resistant rubber. A TURKEY BASTER BULB. Made a patch for the bottom bowl, and put one more made washer of same material between tank and fill tray. Screwed it back together and hasn't leaked since. Worked so good I have been using it for the office now for about a year. So,,, Now I own 2. I have a good cup of coffee no mater where I am. Home or office. Good luck with your leaks. Plenty of ideas here, And most options, you probable already have in your own home.
