Darren Shan. His books are supposedly for teenagers, but all the adults I know that have read his books love them. If you've read everything by Steven King you've obviously got a taste for horror, in which case you would prefer his Demonata series/saga. The first book in that series/saga is Lord Loss. Enjoy!

I like James Patterson and Michael Connelly, although neither are exactly horror-centric. Their novels are better described as thrillers. http://www.jamespatterson.com/ http://www.michaelconnelly.com/

Marx.

I have recently enjoyed the writing of Ted Dekker

Jane Austen?

John Saul; he is good!!!!!!

Robert Ludlum. . Start with the Bourne books and then the Matrese books, then the Covert One series, then you will be hooked and want to read all his works, and there are ALOT of them (about 70 in all I think)
-
I love Tess Gerritsen. http://www.tessgerritsen.com/

Anne Rice.

Ira Levin (Rosemary's Baby, The Stepford Wives, This Perfect Day, A Kiss Before Dying, Son of Rosemary, Sliver, The Boys From Brazil). He always has a fantastic premise. He's certainly as good as King and Koontz. And I'd also go with : Thomas Harris Ann Rule (if you like true horror stories).
-
Crichton has some darker aspects of his books (Jurassic Park & Timeline especially), and Clancy is great at thrillers if you want to break away from the strictly horror authors. Anne Rice, as well, is an excellent choice with her Vampire Chronicles and witchcraft-centered works.

Based on those authors I would recommend Robert R. McCammon. 'Swan Song' is an incredible epic! Plus he does what King does so well, take a story line based on reality and twists it, making it surreal. Tell me how you like it, if you try one of his novels. :)

James Patterson is a great read ! Read just one of his books and you will go out and buy 2 more:)
-
I know this is no help, B.S., but, I am still reading Koontz and was wondering how good the "Odd" books are? I was fixin' to buy some more, and was wondering if I should start those or finish some more of his newer ones first?
-
Based on those two, and I have read them all also (Salems Lot or Hearts In Atlantis being the faves), I would suggest Ayn Rand. Try "Atlas Shrugged" and see what you think. Give it a chance. It is like 1200 pages.
-
You should try Brian Lumley. He's great if you don't mind a bit of gore.
-
thomas harris, he wrote Silance of the lambs & the Red Dragon. I promise it's a nail biter
