  • Absolutley, you can get a credit card however some credit card companies will require you to put up some funds in a account that the bank owns as a security issue so that should you not pay them back they will simply take the funds out of your savings, it is called a secured card account. Some banks might not require this and if you are getting offers in the mail send the best offer away and see what haoppens.
  • Yep, but you must have a high enough "household income". I think that the minimum of the last card I applied for was $10,000. How else could college students get plastic? :P The problem you may run into, though, is lack of credit history. If you've had your name on a mortgage, auto loan, etc, you should be fine, though. If nothing else, you could apply for a store credit card.
