Wouldn't know, I never met her. What did YOUR great grandmother do?
    • Linda Joy
But why go back in time? I was thinking more along the lines of sea sponges or a menstrual cup, or maybe both in combination.

Didn't they just use a corn cob or something back then??
  • Never heard of anti-cotton advocates. That's one too far for me! Anyway, I know what our great grandmothers used. In a hospital in the early 1960s, they gave us strips of folded cloth worn from an elastic band around the hips. The used cloths were LAUNDERED and bleached, refolded and used again for the next patient. And guess what! Those strips of cloth were cotton (what else?).

Scroll up one. Stevo is an anti cotton advocate. I'm just trying to reduce waste.

Anti-cotton. That's crazy talk. What does he advocate? Linen? Who could afford it? Hemp? Wool? Used newspaper? That's becoming obsolete. But don't go for sponges, that's a living animal when there's plenty of plant material available. So, what does Stevo want, synthetics??

Ask him. Here is another option: "Bamboo fabric is great for creating reusable sanitary pads." https://minksie.com/blogs/news/how-can-bamboo-sanitary-pads-make-a-difference-in-your-menstrual-health#:~:text=Bamboo%20fabric%20is%20great%20for,to%20weave%20it%20into%20cloth.

Like linen, bamboo is very expensive. I looked for his anti-cotton statement but couldn't find anything. I googled it and found little except some issues with fair trade from about two years ago. So what is his beef?
    • Linda Joy
He just mentioned he was anti cotton. Ask him why.
  • One option would be a silicone cup. Being a dude my whole life, I certainly don't know enough about this to recommend anything, but I know those cups exist - looks like a large rubber thimble or something. Possibly only better for the environment if you use it for a long time, though, seeing as how silicone rubber is a little more resource-intensive to manufacture than cotton.

Good answer! I've used a Diva cup before. They're a little messy. I dropped mine in a toilet that was constantly running and it ate it! lol They are a lot cheaper than they used to be.
  • I recommend dried bread.😔😔😔😔 Its cheap, plentiful, disposable, organic and works in tomato soup.
    • notyouraveragedummy
How about you test your theory and wear dried bread on your privates for three or four days. Then tell us why it's better than cotton!
    • Linda Joy
lol Hulk! No chance of a yeast infection there! You're so silly! And average, really? That's gross! Its not like you leave the same pad on for three days. I have an idea why don't we just let him bleed for four days and expect him to live!

And if Granny puts dried bread on my privates I'll whack it off. That's the difference between men and women.you numbskull lol

So LJ, you leave the same disposable pad on for three days? I'm sorry. I had no idea you were soo poor. Why don't you try gofundme?
