  • I expect: less than if you were born in the early 60s (like I was). I would expect the chances are much smaller than 1%.
  • I was born in the 50s and didn't worry about it.
  • I swam in a swimming pool made of asbestos as a kid, we had asbestos ceilings, garages, and where I am living I still have asbestos ceilings in some rooms. Asbestos is ok so long as it isn't drilled into, bear in mind I know people that have lived till their 90's and died peacefully in their sleep, who most certainly would of been around asbestos and all sorts in their time, I'd say asbestos is the least of our problems, 1 in 2 people will get cancer in their lifetime.
  • its only broken etc fibro that will cause problems ..so you worry over nothing..look at all the millions of old people who are still alive and real healthy !!!
  • Undamaged, intact asbestos panels etc. are of little risk. People who have worked with asbestos are more likely to suffer from asbestos related diseases because they had exposure to loose fibres. The worst forms of asbestos were phased out in the 70s & 80s so I would say people born in the 40s, 50s & 60s were at greater risk than you.
