  • The default/standard location for the "system32" folder on Micro$haft Winblows NT "New Technology" operating systems is "C:#WINDOWS#system32" or "C:#WINNT#system32". This is an important folder in Windows NT/2000/XP/2003. This folder is sort of the root of all the evil. You will find most of the important drivers, system files, resource files, system tools and even most viruses and malware like to put their files here. The ...system32#drivers subfolder is of great importance too. These shortcuts to get there might be of use also: %SystemDirectory% (usually this one won't work) %SystemRoot%#system32 (more reliable) NOTE: Answerbag removes backslashes from your messages. I think they killed my dog too. For this reason I've placed pound signs where backslashes should be. Please make the appropriate adjustments as you read...
  • Basically what he said in normal english: The C:/Windows/system32 folder should not be touched if you don't know what you're doing. The folder holds hundreds of critical system files that Windows needs to run correctly. To give you an idea: My little brother once got an email (spam) saying that a file in System32 was a virus. He went and deleted it, and something stopped working (it was a few years ago). Long story short, it took me 5hrs to find the file again and get it back on. Basically, if you don't know what the folder is, then DONT TOUCH IT!!! I cannot stress that enough. Hope this helps, Good Luck
