  • I'm not sure when it began, but I know what it teaches our children. It teaches them that beauty is all we care about. It's not wisdom anymore. In America, we treat our elderly like hindrances, not like people who have made it this far with lots of knowledge and wisdom. So all they see is people who are trying to look young and "beautiful". Mix this with all the models and unrealistic body image we portray to ourselves and everyone around us- Children now'days are getting plastic surgery at 16 and in extreme cases almost 13! They're taught that the only thing that matters is looks. :(
  • Narcissus started this, correct? It's just that now we can get the illusion of youth if we have the money. I don't want to sound mean, but our children are receiving worse messages that spending money to try to stay youthful.
