  • In most jurisdictions, you must be 21 years of age to carry a badge and a weapon. You will probably need at least two years of post high school education for an Associate's Degree, and many departments now require a Bachelor's degree. Once accepted, you will probably spend a few more months in that department's or state's police academy.
  • There are police agancies that will take your application as early as age 19, with a high school or a G.E.D. However they may not hire you until you complete a state police academy basic recruite program. that can take up to 6 months in some jurisdictions. most Academies are about 6oo plus hours now. If you are serious contact your local police recruiter and get started. Good luck
