  • It could disable the GPS device since the GPS is electronic, depending on a number of circumstances. 1. The GPS device must be within range of the EM pulse. Otherwise, obviously, the effects wouldn't be quite as you hoped for. 2. I'm not sure about this one, but I would imagine the GPS device would have to be activated at the time, in order for it to become disabled. Perhaps someone could correct me on this if this is wrong. 3. The EMP device would have to actually work. There is a technical solution, should condition 3 not be successful in your campaign to disable the GPS device. You could use a short-range mechanical traumatic force to prvent the GPS from working, even if the EMP doesn't actually produce a pulse successfully. Translation - you use the EMP device to smash it to bits.
  • Yes but if the GPS device is consistantly working would it not disable it?
  • Assuming the pulse is within range and strong enough, it would destroy anything electronic or electrical, on or off. If you want to make a device, thermomagneticynamics is your best choice.
  • A powerful enough Electromagntive Pulse would disable and render useless any and all electronics within its range. The real danger would be for a large EMP missle to be detonated 300 miles above Kansas City, This would have an effective range of about 3000 sq miles. And knock out the entire US electronic Infrastructure. After something like that GPS would be completely disabled.
