<h4 class="dechead">On One Hand: Similar Usage
Both dog hair trimmers and human hair trimmers are used for cutting hair. Both types of trimmers run on electricity, and have metal blades which move rapidly back and forth behind an attachment. The attachment protects skin from the blades, but is also used to determine how much hair the trimmer actually cuts.
On the Other: Not Interchangeable
Despite basic similarities, dog and human trimmers are not designed to be interchangeable. Dog hair is stronger than human hair. Thus, clippers designed for human hair likely will not have the strength to cut through dog hair. Trying to do so can result in injury to the animal, and the clipper will likely become clogged. Dog hair trimmers have stronger motors and specially ground blades, which allow for efficient cutting of dog hair.
Bottom Line
Although dog hair and human hair trimmers look similar, their functionality is entirely different. Thus, dog and human hair trimmers are not the same, and the appropriate type of trimmer should be used for the type of hair being cut.
