A hybrid vehicle combines the internal combustion engine with an electrical engine. Its extra cost often drives buyers away. But with fuel prices on the rise and the environment becoming more and more of concern, these cars are steadily becoming a necessity.
Better mpg
The intention of the hybrid engine is to allow the car to get a better miles-per-gallon rating on both city and highway driving. This allows the owner to drive longer and farther between fuelings.
Reduced Emissions
Hybrid engines emit less gasses into the air, improving the air quality for everyone. As more cars with hybrid engines are sold, it's believed that the amount of carbon released into the atmosphere will decrease.
Noise Pollution
The hybrid engine is far quieter than an ordinary internal combustion engine. The more hybrids on the road, the less noisy our cities and highways will be.
Fossil Fuel Dependency
With so little oil left on the earth, eventually we will need to find alternative energy sources. Hybrid cars are a step in the right direction for independence from fossil fuels.
Tax Incentive
Many countries, including the United States, Canada and United Kingdom, have begun to issue incentives to their citizens to purchase these cars. The United States and Canada offer money back on tax returns, and the United Kingdom doesn't require its users to pay the 8-pound daily congestion tax.
