Most diet patches contain guarana, hoodia or chromium. These ingredients have been clinically proved to work: Guarana has been shown to increase metabolism, hoodia suppresses appetite, and chromium lowers blood sugar levels, which can cause stored fat to be burned off.
On the Other: No Medical Evidence Exists
There has yet to be medical or scientific proof that diet patches alone will help someone lose weight. Any weight loss could be credited to a change in diet and exercise. In addition, most fast weight loss is attributed to water weight and not true fat loss.
Bottom Line
Experts in the medical and nutritional fields have yet to give diet patches a thumbs up and back up the results with scientific evidence. Diet patches are labeled as supplementary options to an exercise and diet regimen, and cannot act solely as a weight-loss aid.
