Positive thinking has been linked to popularity, good health and success. Those who think positively are more likely to heal more quickly. The placebo effect is good evidence that positive thinking works. Even though no actual medication is taken, the belief that effective medication has been taken often results in a positive physical response.

    On the Other: Limited Success

Positive thinking only works for the 20% of the population that is already positive. Positive thinking has no impact on things like test scores. Just because people think positively about something doesn't mean that things will turn out the way they imagine or hope. Positive thinking has to be genuine, and cannot be manufactured.

    Bottom Line

Though there is some evidence that positive thinking is effective, there is more evidence that genuine success, rather than wishful thinking, leads to more positive results in the future. Success as a result of hard work and resourcefulness needs to come first in order for positive thinking to be effective.
