Ripplefold draperies are window treatments with soft, unpleated folds. Before purchasing hardware from manufacturers such as Kirsch, Brimar, KS and Forest, you must first decide among several style variations.
Rod and Tracks
You can mount ripplefold draperies to the ceiling or the wall. Ripplefold tracks are best for ceiling mounts; decorative rods are best for wall-mounted draperies. Wall-mounted drapes require brackets for attaching the rods to the wall.
Snap Tape and Snap Carriers
All variations require snap tape which is sewn at the top of the drapery. They also use snap carriers that come strung together and load into the rod or track and then attach to the snaps in the draperies. The carriers are available strung at different distances allowing for choices in the fullness of the drape.
Stops
You will need an end stop for the end of the rod or track regardless of style. For rod applications, specialized end stops are available which wrap the drape around the end of the rod.
Opening Variations and Hardware
Draperies can open at the center into two panels or open as a single panel from the right or the left. Center-opening draperies require overlap master carriers at each leading edge of the drape. Side-opening drapes need a butt master carrier at the leading edge.
Draw Variations and Hardware
Cord draw variations, where the drape is drawn by pulling a cord at the side of the drapery, require cording and pulleys. In cordless draw draperies you can pull the drape by hand or by means of a wand attached to each leading edge.
