It takes four years to get a bachelor's degree in social work or a related field to become an entry-level social worker. However, an advanced degree is becoming required in most positions; therefore, an additional two full-time years or four part-time years will be needed to get a master's in social work. Additionally, two years of supervised clinical experience are needed for licensure.
